Say No To Violence

Help Mend Broken Hearts Alannah & Madeline Foundation Buddy Run

This article mentions family and domestic violence.

Following the terrible tragedy at Port Arthur in 1996, father and husband Walter Mikac AM took a stand. Together with a group of dedicated volunteers, Walter established the Alannah & Madeline Foundation in memory of his two daughters who died at Port Arthur.

Almost 25 years on, you can join the incredible work of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation in saying no to violence, with a Colour Explosion Buddy Run with Australian Fundraising.

Alannah & Madeline Foundation Help Mend Broken Hearts

No one deserves to experience family or domestic violence. After losing his wife and two daughters at Port Arthur, Walter Mikac AM decided that he would work to be a part of a revolution that ended gun violence in Australia. With a commitment to ensuring every child has access to a safe and happy childhood, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation was commissioned as a national charity in 1997. Now with dozens of support initiatives and a partnership with Dolly’s Dream, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation helps to support children who are impacted by violence and trauma. So how can we help? At no cost to your school or group, your participants can enjoy all the fun of a Colour Explosion School Run 4 Fun while fundraising for one of Australia’s most trusted and influential children’s charities.

Say No to Violence

This year, you can partner with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation and say no to violence in our community. Together, we can help reduce the devastating impacts of domestic and family violence.

Did You Know? 60,000 Australian children are in emergency accommodation every year. Often fleeing with nothing but a few crucial items (like the clothes they are wearing), many of these children feel afraid, alone and abandoned.

The Alannah & Madeline Foundation offers support to children through Buddy Bags, the Cubby House and eSmart. They also provide advocacy and education across Australia.

Unfortunately, none of these services can operate without significant financial support. As a national not-for-profit organisation, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation relies on the generosity of the local community to continue their meaningful and necessary work.
