The Care For A Cause initiative is a unique approach that redefines the concept of incentive prizes. Instead of students redeeming their fundraising credit towards incentive prizes, they can make a meaningful impact to the environment and communities around Australia by allocating their funds to support three amazing charitable causes and two nature-positive organisations. It’s a game-changer for fundraising, the environment, and communities across Australia.
Choosing to support one of six amazing causes instead of pursuing incentive prizes reflects a deep commitment to purpose and community. It’s driven by a genuine desire to make a positive impact to communities and the environment throughout Australia. Growing on the success of our Go Green fundraisers, Australian Fundraising offers an exclusive opportunity to support five remarkable organisations and create a lasting impact with our Monty the Monstar Fun Run fundraisers.
Best of all, families can decide whether they want prizes or to donate independently when you choose the Traditional Prize option.
Here’s how you can make a difference:
- Help BRIGHTEN the lives of sick kids and make hospital a bit more FUN through the Starlight Children’s Foundation
- Reduce food waste and help feed vulnerable people in need with OzHarvest
- You can choose to support The Great Barrier Reef Foundation who will plant one coral to help save our Reef and its marine life for future generations, or you can support the work being done to help protect the turtles.
- Make a difference to one of our country’s most valuable yet devastated ecosystems when you plant trees with Carbon Neutral.
- Dolly’s Dream aims to prevent more young lives being lost to bullying and cyber bullying by providing educational resources and seminars across Australia, helping Dolly’s Dream to create conversations that help save lives.
How can your school get involved?
It’s easy to get involved. When you choose to host either a Monty the Monstar Fun Run, by choosing Traditional prizes you get access to our Care For A Cause initiative. With the Traditional Incentive Prize option, students and parents can make their own decision to donate to one of five amazing causes instead of receiving incentive prizes.
Our Care For A Cause program builds on the hugely successful Go Green fundraiser we have been offering since 2020. Since launching the Go Green fundraiser and changing to Care For A Cause, schools and groups have helped to:
- Plant over 84,000 trees
- Plant over 76,000 coral
- Provide over 23,000 tokens to support and protect turtles
- Provide over 111,000 meals to people in need
- Contribute over 5,000 tokens to support the student2student reading program.
- Provide over 3,000 tokens to help combat bullying in schools
Which Organisations Can You Support?
We’re excited about what we can do to help not only our environmental causes (Carbon Neutral and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation), but three other community organisations that have partnered with Australian Fundraising in 2026 – OzHarvest, Starlight Children’s Foundation and Dolly’s Dream.

Great Barrier Reef Foundation
Great Barrier Reef FoundationPlant a Coral
We all love our Great Barrier Reef, but it’s coming under increasing pressure to survive. Climate change is the biggest threat to our Reef. Its impacts, which includes rising water temperatures, ocean acidification and more severe weather events, make it difficult for the Reef to recover and adapt fast enough to survive.
For every $20 a participant raises, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation will plant one coral to help restore our Reef and its marine life for future generations.
Over 60,000 baby corals have been planted on the Great Barrier Reef and our goal is to plant over 100,00 corals by the end of 2025.
Protect a Turtle
Turtles on the Great Barrier Reef are endangered due in part to the impacts of climate change. Rising sea levels are flooding nests and drowning hatchlings, while the loss of seagrass meadows is threatening their food supply.
For every $20 raised, participants can earn a Turtle Token which goes towards the protection of the Great Barrier Reef’s turtles.
A Turtle Token will:
- Help to grow seagrass – turtles’ favourite and primary food source
- Protect turtle reef homes so they can have a safe place to shelter, breed and feed
- Restore islands to improve nesting sites and baby turtle survival

Starlight Children’s Foundation
Starlight Children’s FoundationAll kids love having FUN! For sick kids having fun can feel impossible, but you can bring the fun back. By choosing Starlight, sick kids will escape the fear of hospital through laughter, play and friendship.
For every $20 you raise, a Star Token will be donated, which will help BRIGHTEN the lives of sick kids and make hospital a bit more FUN… Because Happiness Matters!
By fundraising for a Book Token, students will:
- Help sick kids cope with pain and stress, while giving families hope for the future.
- Support programs that create moments of laughter, play, and connection when they are needed most.

Dolly’s Dream
After the untimely death of 14-year-old Dolly Everett, her parents never imagined her legacy would live on through a nationwide anti-bullying movement. Established in Dolly’s memory by her parents, Kate and Tick Everett and her sister Meg, Dolly’s Dream acts as a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and works to prevent the lives of other children being lost.
Dolly’s Dream does this through empowering and educating families, schools and communities about bullying prevention and the power of kindness. The work of Dolly’s Dream in educating parents and schools about bullying and cyber bullying has never been more important. With your help, together we can take a stand against bullying, to act as a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and spread kindness to create a sense of togetherness and community.
For every $20 you raise, a Token will be donated to Dolly’s Dream to support their school programs.
By fundraising for a Dolly’s Dream Token, students will:
- Help to prevent more young lives being lost to bullying and cyber bullying
- Provide educational resources and seminars across Australia, creating conversations that help save lives.

OzHarvest
OzHarvestFounded by Ronni Kahn AO in 2004, OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, collecting quality surplus food from more than 3,000 food donors across the country. Every week over 250 tonnes of food is saved from going to landfills and delivered to 1,900 charities, helping make a positive impact to the lives of people in need in Australia. Since its inception, OzHarvest has delivered more than 240 million meals!
For every $20 raised, OzHarvest will deliver six meals to people in need. In 2023, 3.7 million households struggled to put food on the table, with the rising cost of living being the biggest contributing factor to this [Statistics from Foodbank Hunger Report 2023].

Carbon Neutral
Carbon NeutralMake a difference to one of our country’s most valuable yet devastated ecosystems.
For over two decades, Carbon Neutral has been working with thousands of organisations and individuals from across the globe to reduce their impact on the planet.
For every $20 each participant fundraises, Carbon Neutral plants one tree or shrub in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, one of only 36 biodiversity hotspots worldwide. Hotspots are irreplaceable and preserving them secures our global biodiversity.
Since our partnership began in 2021, our partner schools and organisations have assisted in planting over 75,000 trees and shrubs in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor.

It’s a great way to give participants a sense of purpose and agency in the fundraising journey.
