The Colour Explosion Fun Run isn’t just for schools! On a sunny Saturday morning, more than 150 community members from Special Olympics Queensland had their brightest social gathering yet, participating in their very own Colour Explosion Fun Run.

With a focus on community spirit and a fun event for their members, Special Olympics Queensland had an awesome day enjoying the sun and colour at a local sports ground.

Colour and smiles all around for the members of Special Olympics Queensland!

According to their website, “Special Olympics Queensland is proud to be part of the Special Olympics Australia network that provides weekly sports training and regular competition for people with intellectual disability. Through sport, people with intellectual disability learn the skills and build the confidence that can help them achieve their personal best in sport and in life.”

Participants were delighted to be joined by Brisbane Bronco’s legend Petero Civoniceva, who is a supporter of disability support organisations such as Special Olympics Queensland and Spinal Home Help as a Peer Mentor Ambassador.

“The feedback has been amazing”

Kim Lawley, a Community Development Officer at Special Olympics Queensland, raved about the Colour Explosion Fun Run, saying that “the feedback from the event has been amazing, and [Australian Fundraising] had a huge part to play in that…”

She continued to say that Special Olympics Queensland is already “planning for bigger and better next year.” Australian Fundraising is delighted to be partnering with the organisation again well into the future.

“We will definitely welcome your family [Australian Fundraising] into ours [Special Olympics Queensland]!” Kim encouraged.
